One thing that I thought was interesting was how things can happen in our family without saying it. It's just commonly known that if Dad slams the door when he comes home from work, you stay out of his way for a few hours. I never noticed things like that until we talked about it in class and how that motivates us to act in certain ways and if someone else acts that way, it can trigger those same reactions- even though

This week we talked about patterns in our society and one of them I found really interesting was cohabitation which is correlated with getting married at a later age. When a couple lives together and get involved sexually before marriage, it demeans the special part of marriage. Because these couples are having premaritial sex, there is no push to get married to be able to have that special bond.
I thought it was especially interesting when my professor who is a marriage and family therapist said that many of his couples who cohabitated with others before getting married regret it. They wished that they would have saved that for the one they married and vice versa.
